4) The Picture
The impact that media has on how we perceive specific visuals is irrefutable. While competing in a New York City tournament, Stokke’s photo was captured by a journalist and circulated amongst the public eye. At first glance, her picture highlighted her prowess in pole vaulting – an attribute she wished to be recognized for. Yet sadly enough, when this image found itself into unsavory hands it took on an entirely different connotation than what was intended initially.
