Toggle5. Don’t Waste Time On The Worst Case Scenarios
While it’s important to be prepared and consider different outcomes, the best approach is to let things unfold naturally and address them when they actually happen. Constantly expecting the worst creates unnecessary anxiety and takes away from the present moment.
This doesn’t mean being indifferent about the task at hand. Instead, it means focusing our energy on dealing with situations as they occur, rather than wasting time and effort worrying about things that haven’t happened and may never happen.
6. Set Goals That Are Within Your Abilities
One major drawback of perfectionist thinking is setting goals that are extremely difficult to reach, which can lead to feelings of inadequacy when they’re not achieved. For example, if you set a goal to publish a book within six months without even starting to write it, it’s highly unlikely to happen, and you’ll end up feeling disappointed.
While it’s important to aim high and give our best, setting the bar too high can actually demotivate us when we realize we won’t be able to achieve what we want.
