ToggleTalk Show Host Couric Asked The Trans Model Carmen About Her Genitals After Her Transition
During an appearance on Katie Couric’s talk show, trans model Carmen Carrera shared her life and modeling experiences. However, Couric veered into personal territory by asking about Carmen’s transition and if it was physically painful. Carmen tried to redirect the conversation, mentioning her modeling career, family goals, and career aspirations, wanting to emphasize that trans individuals have more to offer than just their transition. Despite Carmen’s response, Couric persisted and asked if Carmen’s genitals were still the same.
Carmen firmly stated that she preferred to focus on other aspects of her life, highlighting that it’s personal and not something she feels obligated to discuss. Couric explained that she asked the question because it was a mystery to her and others. Carmen acknowledged that it’s positive that people are now more interested in learning instead of judging, but personal boundaries still apply.
After the interview, Couric admitted that she had the opportunity to remove that particular clip but chose to keep it, believing it would be educational for the audience. However, Couric faced criticism for objectifying transgender individuals by asking such a personal question on television.
The James Bond Actor Opined That “slapping Women” Is Not “bad” As Some Situations “merit It”
In 1987, Barbara Walters interviewed Sean Connery and asked him about a previous comment he made, which was seen as misogynistic. Connery openly stated that it’s better to hit a woman with an open hand than a closed one. When Barbara asked him about this comment, Connery arrogantly responded that his opinion hadn’t changed.
Barbara further questioned him if he believed it was acceptable to slap women. Connery replied that it’s not good, but sometimes it might be necessary in certain situations. When Barbara asked him when it would be okay to slap a woman, Connery said, “only after the man has tried everything else.”
To justify his statement, he claimed that women always want to have the last word, and if men allow them to do so, they keep repeating it and prolong the argument, making the situation provocative. He believed that hitting them in such circumstances is justified.
Barbara mentioned that he would likely receive a lot of negative feedback after the interview aired. Connery responded with a dismissive remark, saying he might get some female mail instead.
